SMU G2004, coached by Head Coach Manu Appelius and Assistant Coach Robert Bahedry, won the final game of the season 7-0 vs. LA Premier yesterday, clinching first place in Silver Elite North and earning guaranteed promotion to Gold for next season (the highest level bracket for that age group).

The team ended up undefeated, with a 9-0-3 record, 30 total points and 35 goals scored and only 1 conceded, ending with best offense and best defense of the entire bracket.

Head Coach Manu Appelius stated: "As it's always the case, it wasn't easy at first. It took some time. We had to challenge the girls and get them out of their comfort zone. But then things clicked and we just witnessed an exceptional season. It's never easy to go undefeated for 12 games. It's never easy to have a 16-game undefeated streak (last tournament + league...and we'll surely try to make that streak continue). It's even harder to go 12 games and give up only 1 goal in the process! But the girls did it all!

I found an incredibly mature and fun group. They rose to the challenge. They didn't give themselves alibis or excuses. They bought into the philosophy and were incredibly open minded and receptive to the new stuff we tried to teach them. They became a family.
I am incredibly impressed by all of them and proud of their achievements".

The roster of the team includes:

ISABELLA (IZZY) PROVISOR, FIONA DUBIN, LUCY BOWDEN, RUBY SIEVERS, CHASE BINKOW, MONA ABAI, SYDNEY FORSYTH, GABBY WOLF, LOLA CASTORINA, GRACE SAUTER, LAUREN FORSYTH, PEYTON BRAU, KAITLYN OGULNICK, GRACE WEIL, SARYA MIRASOL, CHLOE ALLISON, ARDEN BROWN, MAYA TEN

The girls are only the second team in history to reach CSL's Gold level.

Congratulations girls! SMU is proud of you!!!
