SMU's "Friday Fearless Footwork" clinics return to WEBSTER MIDDLE SCHOOL for 2012!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Starting this Friday, January 13, SMU's infamous "Friday Fearless Footwork" clinics MOVE to Webster Middle School (in West LA, on the corner of Sawtelle & National) and will be from 6-7:30PM.

Aimed at boys and girls ages 6-12, this clinic unique in that it is open to ALL PLAYERS - especially NON-SMU players. It is an opportunity for any/all players not yet affiliated with the club to work with our excellent coaching staff on improving their technical and tactical skills on a consistent, weekly basis. Each session is 90 minutes, (6-7:30 PM at Webster Middle School, until further notice) and will incorporate a warm-up, a specific "topic" on technique, and finish up with about a 30 minutes small-sided game. The cost of each session is just $10 per player, payable in cash.

     Mar. 23     Creating Space: Pass & Move
     Mar. 30     Finishing: PK's ... It's all in your head!
     Apr. 6       Ball Mastery - footwork skills
     Apr. 13     2 v. 2 Defending: Defensive Pressure/Cover
     Apr. 20     Fakes: The "CHOP" ... Messi's favorite!
     Apr. 27     Passing: The "through ball"
     May. 4      Ball Mastery - footwork skills
     May. 11    Finishing: Headers
     May. 18    2 v. 2 attacking: The "Diagonal Run"
     May. 25    NO CLINIC - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

All new teams will be competing in Coast Soccer League in the Fall of 2012 (all age groups for the 2012/13 season).

BOYS 9 (born on or after 8/1/2003)

GIRLS 10 (born on or after 8/1/2002)

GIRLS 12 (born on or after 8/1/2000)

02/24-03/02-03/09 at WEBSTER MIDDLE SCHOOL, 6pm to 8pm (6 to 6.15, check-in and registration)

B11 WINTER CUP 2012 CHAMPIONS!!!

Excellent weekend for the B11, who won the final to capture The Winter Cup 2011 Championship.
After a 1-1 tie with FRAM, the boys took care of business with a 4-0 win vs. YASA FC, a 1-0 win vs Long Beach Waves and a penalty kick shootout win vs. FRAM (0-0 after regulation and overtime). The boys exhibited some excellent moments, with great combinations and a dynamic possession soccer. Defense was excellent, with the whole team working extremely hard to get a shutout in the final. Well done boys!!! SMU is proud of you!!!

G13 FINALIST, B09 THIRD PLACE AT IRVINE WINTER CLASSIC 2012

G13 and B09 represented the club well this past weekend, with great performances at Irvine Winter Classic 2012. G13 got first place in their group with 3 wins in 3 games (for a combined 10 goals scored and 0 against). The Girls eventually lost in the final.
B09 got second place in their group and ended up winning the 3rd place final 1-0. Congratulations to both teams!
