ANNOUNCING SMUFC'S 2nd ANNUAL 2009 SUMMER CAMP - July 27-31

Santa Monica United Football Club will be hosting its second Summer Soccer Camp for boys and girls ages 6 to 15 years old, open to the public and for players of all skill levels and experience.

Camp is being held the week of July 27th-31st at Lincoln Middle School in Santa Monica and will be run by SMUFC's very own Peter Bartlett! Pete is coach to our GU15 and BU13 teams and led our BU13 team to State Cup Victory this year!  Also, Manu Appelius, SMUFC Director of Coaching, and Robert Bahedry, BU14 and BU12 Coach, will be on hand some days to assist with the players.
  
Camp will feature high level training, games and fun. Coaching and
games will focus on Individual Technique, Passing, Finishing, Goalkeeping, and Tactics.  Campers will be involved in a variety of fun exercises and drills, one on one activities, small sided games, and scrimmages.

We are also pleased to announce that camp will feature training sessions by Athletes Performance, an internationally renowned company that trains the L.A. Galaxy,  to improve overall athletic performance in the areas of speed, strength, balance, and agility.

Camp Director is Pete Bartlett (National B licensed), SMUFC's distinguished head coach of SMU-B13, 2009 State Cup champions.  Coach Pete is well known in the local community, and has years of experience and success in running similar camps.  The camper to coach ratio will be 10:1.

2009 "ONE" SOCCER SCHOOLS - CAMP JULY 6-10 @ LINCOLN MIDDLE SCHOOL, SANTA MONICA

One Soccer Schools is hosting a camp for SMU players along with all soccer enthusiasts at:
               July 6th-10th
               8am-4pm
               Cost: $299

GU9 SMU G99 ... CROWNED "2009 NHB GEORGE MITTON" CHAMPION!

SMU's Girls U9 team emerged victorious from the "George Mitton Memorial Cup" tournament in which they participated the weekend of May 18-19.

Inspired by their new coach Oleg Chovkovy, they roared back from an opening loss Saturday morning to avenge this defeat against the same team in a thrilling final in which they emerged as deserved 2-1 victors.

Congratulation to all the players, families, and coaches for such a memorable weekend. A special mention also goes to "departing" coach Josh Green, who has been at helm of the GU9 program for the past year. Good luck with your move to the Midwest!

BU15 SM United B93 CLAIMS 2009 NOMADS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE!

Santa Monica United FC's BU15 team coached by Manu Appelius and Chris Naughton took FIRST PLACE at the highly prestigious 2009 NOMADS TOURNAMENT in San Diego, the weekend of March 14-16.

On its way to being CHAMPION, the team went undefeated for 5 games with a 4-0-1 record, scoring 13 goals and conceding only 3, beating Tuscon SA 94 Red 2-0 in the final.

BU12 SMUFC B96 adds THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP - CSL's "2009 CALIFORNIA CUP" - TO AN ALREADY STELLAR SEASON

SMU's BU12 team does it again! Adding CSL's 2009 CAL CUP championship to a League Title and Calsouth's 2009 State Cup. An unprecedented SEASON TREBLE and the first ever in SMUFC's long and illustrious history. Congratulation everyone!

BU12 SMU B96-09 CALIFORNIA CUP CHAMPION

SMU BU12-Blue TEAM in 2009 CALFORNIA CUP "FINAL FOUR!"

Coached by Andrew Pearce, SMU's BU12-Blue (silver elite) team advanced to a final four birth in CSL's 2009 California Cup.

On the road to the semi-finals, the team defeated Los Gauchos 8-1, Elite FC Stampede 6-0, South Bay Gunners 3-0, and LAFC White 4-0 in the quarter-finals. This set up a semi-finals match up with SMU's other BU12 team, to whom it lost by a score of 3-0. SMU's BU12 then went on to be eventual Cal Cup Champion.

The BU12-Blue team adds this distinguished accolade to it's Calsouth 2009 Sate Cup elite 8 berth earlier in February.

Congratulations everyone on a fantastic first season with SMU!

BU12 SMUFC B96 is 2009 CALSOUTH STATE CUP CHAMPION!!!

Santa Monica United FC's BU12 team emerged as 2009 CALSOUTH STATE CUP CHAMPION, by defeating the San Diego's Aztecs 2-1 in a very exciting final, Sunday Feb. 22.

Coached by Pete Bartlett and Manu Appelius, the team played a total of 9 games, scoring 33 goals and giving up only six on the way to the gold medal. The team capped a fantastic season where it also won fall league, earning promotion to the silver elite level.

SMUFC has put together a downloadable "COLLEGE BROCHURE" that is available for you perusal by clicking the the "COLLEGE RECRUITING" tab on the left-hand margin of this homepage.

Parents - choosing a college is perhaps the first independent decision of your son or daughter’s adult life. Remind them that there is no perfect school and support their efforts and decision.

This college recruiting site is provided to supply you with some guidelines and resources to research athletics in college. Please verify all information with the college councilors at your school as colleges and universities have different requirement.
