Congratulations to the BU18 SM United B89 for reaching the FINAL of the 2008 CALSOUTH STATE CUP tournament and securing second place in the process. In addition to this, additional hearty congratulations go out to the GU15 SM United G92 team for reaching the FINAL FOUR in the same tournament, losing only to SD Surf Blue, the tournament's eventual champion.

Keep working hard, everyone, and good luck to both teams for the remainder of the season!

Open to all SMU PLAYERS and PLAYERS OF ALL OTHER LOCAL YOUTH SOCCER PROGRAMS, SMU continues its series of “Friday Clinics” … at Santa Monica AIRPORT PARK

          5:30 - 7 PM
          Santa Monica Airport park
          Cost … $10 per player, per session

Each clinic will be run by 2 or more members of the SMU coaching staff, covering a different topic each week, focusing mainly on the technical and tactical development of each player.

          Upcoming MAY topics:
               May 9th - Combination Plays: Overlaps & Takeovers
                         Instructors: Evan Peterson & Chris Naughton

               May 16th - 2v.2 Defending: Pressure & Cover
                         Instructors: TBD

               May 23rd - NO CLINIC - Memorial Day weekend

               May 30th - 2v.2 Attacking: Penetration & Depth
                         Instructors: TBD

Whenever possible, each clinic, will finish with 20/25 minutes of free play/small sided games, where the players will be encouraged to pick teams, rules, etc., in the tradition of "street soccer", which is how most kids learn to play soccer all over the world.
